A Wisdom Tooth Extraction - Made Simple

Expedentist – Surgeons Who Make You Smile

Why do We Extract Wisdom Teeth?

Wisdom teeth, or third molars, are the last teeth to develop at the back of the mouth. They often become impacted if there is not enough room for them, where they become stuck against bone or the tooth in front. Impacted wisdom teeth can be difficult to clean, making it possible for decay to occur within the tooth or infections to develop in the overlying gum called pericoronitis.

Why can’t my normal dentist remove my wisdom teeth?

Many wisdom teeth are easily accessible and can be removed by your usual dentist. However, in many cases, impacted wisdom teeth are partially or completely buried beneath the gum and more specialist surgical techniques are needed to remove the tooth safely. Their location in the mouth also means that, for upper wisdom teeth, they can sit close the floor of the nose or, for lower wisdom teeth, the nerve that supplies feeling to the lower lip, chin and tongue; the inferior dental nerve.  Our surgeons are specially trained to remove these teeth safely, with as little risk to these important structures as possible.

Why Do I Need Expedentist?

Difficult-to-reach and buried wisdom teeth are our bread and butter! Our surgeons are experts in removing impacted and broken down wisdom teeth safely and painlessly. We carefully assess the position and shape of the roots, as well as all of the important surrounding structures including the floor of the nose and inferior dental nerve. We will offer you the treatment options that are best for you, and perform the surgery at your convenience.
