Open Exposure of Impacted Teeth  - Made Simple

Oral Surgery. Sedation. Implants.

What is an Open Exposure?

An open exposure helps to bring a buried tooth into your smile by uncovering it. Where the buried tooth is favourably angled, it can makes it way into the correct position by itself or with some gentle pulling once it has been exposed.

Who can have an Open Exposure?

An open exposure is always performed as part of an orthodontic treatment plan. Your orthodontist and Expdentist surgeon use advanced 3-D imaging to assess the level and angle of the buried tooth, and help you decide if this is right treatment for you. Your Expedentist surgeon will then painlessly expose the buried tooth under local anaesthetic, allowing your orthodontist to use it to straighten your smile. If you need an extra boost of calm, intravenous sedation is also available.
